Discipline & Grievance
Since 2005 companies are obliged to use, as a minimum, the statutory discipline procedure and the Statutory Grievance Procedure.
We encourage our clients to buy into policies, which are in line with best practice, ensuring that they have a strong line of defence in case of any tribunal claim. We also believee that a transparent process clear for both employees and the managers using the policy is vital to its successful usage.
Despite the title, the disciplinary process should be seen as a way of getting employees who have gone off track to return to working and/or behaving the way that the company requires.
The policies which we compile for each organisation that we work with are:
- Tailored to the individual business, the management structure and culture
- Written in plain English so that managers and employees understand the process
- Can be rolled out using a training session to ensure that line managers are comfortable with their responsibilities
The Grievance procedure is the way in which employees can raise any issues that they have with the management from issues about the line manager’s style to complaints about the uniforms! It is vital that you have a way in which staff can raise problems with their boss before it gets out of hand, most issues can be resolved at a Grievance Hearing saving a lot of time and aggravation for all further down the line.
