Employee Rights

Employee rights seem to be ever expanding due to UK government policies and EU directives.  As an employer it is therefore difficult to ensure that you are truly up to date with your own company policies and procedures.  The HR Tap will take that concern away from you by updating your policies and procedures and if you are one of our reservoir or drip, trickle or gush clients you can be sure that as changes are about to happen you will be notified of the action that we need to take.

Some of the legislation and employee rights that you need to be aware of are:

  • Access to personnel records (Data Protection Act 1998)
  • Safe working environment (Health & Safety at Work Act 1974)
  • Same level of pay for the same job (Equal pay act 1970)
  • That part-timers and those on fixed term contracts should be treated in the same way as full time employees (Part Time workers [prevention of less favourable treatment] regulations 2000 and Fixed Term workers regulations 2002)
  • Family friendly government policies such as maternity, paternity, parental and adoption leave and pay, flexible working and time off for dependants
  • Discipline and Grievance policy (statutory minimum)
  • That employers are obliged to determine whether their employees have the right to work in the UK (Asylum and Immigration Act 1996)
